David Miller and Gerald Coetzee have been ruled out of South Africa’s limited-overs leg on their tour of Pakistan.
After a 1-1 draw in the Test series, South Africa are scheduled to play three T20Is and three ODIs in Pakistan. Miller, who was named stand-in captain for the T20I series, has sustained a hamstring strain ahead of the tour. Scans have revealed a grade one tear, as a result of which he will miss the tour and embark on a rehabilitation program.
Donovan Ferreira to lead in Miller's absence
Donovan Ferreira, who had led South Africa in the one-off T20I in Namibia, will lead them in the format. Stand-in ODI captain Matthew Breetzke and the uncapped Tony de Zorzi, both of whom were part of the ODI squad, have been added to the T20I squad.
Unlike Miller, Coetzee was part of both T20I and ODI squads. He has been ruled out after a pectoral muscle injury. He, too, will undergo a rehabilitation program. Ottniel Baartman, who had replaced the injured Kwena Maphaka in the T20Is, will now replace Coetzee in the ODIs.
