England all-rounder Tom Curran has broken his silence on the claims that he "cried like a child" at the airport after the PSL's suspension during the Pakistan-India military tensions.
The 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League faced a brief hiatus, alongside IPL 2025, due to the military conflict between India and Pakistan. Foreign players participating in both the franchise leagues left Pakistan and India as tensions flared up in the region.
A controversy erupted when Rishad Hossain, recounting the challenges faced by the overseas players during the conflict, mentioned that Daryl Mitchell had promised to never return to Pakistan, while England’s Tom Curran was "crying like a child" out of fear.
Since Rishad’s interview with the reporters at the Dubai airport, he clarified that his comments had been "misrepresented in the media" and created a "false perception". He apologised to both Mitchell and Curran, as quoted by Lahore Qalandars' social media post.
In another post on LQ’s social media handles, Mitchell shared his thoughts for those affected on either side of the border due to the tensions, but he neither denied nor confirmed Rishad’s claims.
Tom Curran: I pray for continued peace
Breaking his silence on the topic for the first time, Curran took to Instagram to share his side of the story today (May 18) in a light-hearted manner.
"I'm glad to see things resuming, and I pray for continued peace between two very special countries," Curran captioned an Instagram Story in which he was seen posing with the Pakistan armed forces. "Btw promise, I didn't cry; was ready (laughing emoji)."
With both nations agreeing to a ceasefire, PSL and IPL resumed on Saturday (May 17). While Karachi Kings beat Peshawar Zalmi to reach the playoffs, riding a record stand between captain David Warner and James Vince, IPL’s restart was postponed due to persistent rain which resulted in RCB going to the top of the table, while defending champions KKR getting eliminated.
