Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL 2025 home match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday (May 17) has been washed out due to persistent rain. Here's the updated points table.
The match was supposed to restart the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League, which came to a screeching halt a week back when India and Pakistan were engaged in a military conflict. Following the ceasefire agreement between the two nations, the tournament saw a revised schedule with the final happening now on June 3 rather than May 25, as per the earlier dates.

However, rain played a spoilsport. Inclement weather was predicted in Bengaluru due to the early onset of monsoon in the Southern part of India. The toss was delayed, and even a five-over contest became impossible, prompting abandonment.
The match held added significance as Virat Kohli’s first appearance since his Test retirement announcement five days earlier. In tribute to his red-ball legacy, fans wore replica white Test jerseys – only to be denied a glimpse of their hero on what could have been an electric night.

Bengaluru vs Kolkata: Updated IPL points table after Match 58
RCB entered the match needing a single win from their last three matches to reach the playoffs. Having inched closer with the shared point, they would like to end with a top-two finish.
KKR’s campaign was already on thin ice, and their second washout of the season sealed their fate. At best, they can now reach 14 points, matching fourth-placed Mumbai Indians (MI). However, MI’s final match is against Delhi Capitals (DC), who can climb to 15 points with a win, ending KKR’s playoff hopes.
