The 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League has only five matches left until the knockout phase. Here's what each team needs to finish the PSL 2025 league stage in the qualification places.

How has PSL 2025 unfolded so far?

Quetta Gladiators are comfortably placed at the top of the points table with five wins from eight matches, taking their points tally to 11. They became the first and the only team so far to qualify for the playoffs. Close behind are second-placed Islamabad United and third-placed Karachi Kings (10 points each), who’ve matched Quetta’s five wins but trail by a point due to the Gladiators’ washout against Lahore Qalandars.

Which PSL 2025 teams are still in contention to reach playoffs?

QG’s season began on a shaky note, with heavy back-to-back losses following a dominant win over Peshawar Zalmi. However, they bounced back strongly, winning four of their next five matches (with one abandoned), securing a playoff spot. Now perched atop the table with an NRR of +0.906, they’ll aim to clinch a top-two finish – which they can do with one win out of their last two games.

With bottom-placed Multans Sultan already eliminated, four teams are in contention to seal the remaining three playoff spots. They are Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi.

IU and KK, both tied at 10 points, with a NRR difference of 0.217 in the former's favour, are the favourites to qualify from here on. For both teams, a win in their remaining two matches will guarantee them a spot. However, it could all go down to the wire as both play against each other in the last fixture on May 10. The winner of that fixture will likely finish in the top two.

LQ, with nine points from nine matches, currently boast the best NRR (+0.958) in the tournament. A win in their final group-stage fixture against PZ on May 9 should see them through unless a heavy defeat significantly damages their NRR.

PZ face the steepest challenge, but their playoff hopes remain in their own hands – winning both remaining matches against KK and LQ will see them qualify.
