Asif Mehmood

Asif Mehmood took four wickets in an over on his PSL debut, for Hyderabad Kingsmen against Islamabad United in PSL 2026.

PSL debutant Asif Mehmood takes four in an over

Devon Conway (45 in 31 balls) and Sameer Minhas (22 in 13) got Islamabad United off to a brisk start after Hyderabad Kingsmen captain Marnus Labuschagne won the toss and opted to field in Karachi. Labuschagne held back PSL debutant Mehmood until the powerplay got over but introduced him immediately afterwards, in the seventh over.

Coming on as the sixth bowler, Mehmood missed his run-up while coming to bowl his first ball in the league. Conway hit him for a four and Mohammad Faiq for a six, and he was taken off the attack after conceding 15 in his first over.

IU became 113-5, but Mark Chapman (42 in 30) pushed the score to 150-5 after 19 overs. Mehmood had Chapman caught at deep mid-wicket off his first ball. Imad Wasim ran a couple before trying to ramp the next ball over short-third, where Hunain Shah held a juggling catch.

Mehmood had Mehran Mumtaz caught-behind off his next ball. Salman Irshad averted the hat-trick (and ran a single) before Chris Green holed out to deep mid-wicket. Mehmood, thus, picked up four wickets in an over without a hat-trick – an unusual occurrence – while conceding only three in the last over. IU finished on 153-9.

At the time of writing, HK were 102-1 in 12 overs with Labuschagne (41) and Saim Ayub (29) at the crease.
