Fakhar Zaman hit a third PSL ton to go joint-top of the most hundreds list in the competition’s history.
The Pakistan stalwart continued his run of form by following up a player of the match performance against Rawalpindiz, where he scored a 54-ball 84, with a century for Lahore Qalandars against Quetta Gladiators on Tuesday (April 21). He completed a 50-ball ton and was dismissed for 103 off 51, with 11 fours and six maximums, to power Lahore to 197 as they try to string together a run of wins.
Batting first, the Qalandars were pegged back in the second over, with Khalil Ahmed trapping Mohammad Farooq leg before. No.3 Abdullah Shafique didn’t hang around for long either and was dismissed for a 15-ball 14, even as Fakhar continued scoring at a quick rate.
The southpaw hit Khaleel for three boundaries in the fourth over, before sending Brett Hampton for two sixes and as many fours in the last over of the powerplay. He brought up his fifty of 27 deliveries with a four through point against Usman Tariq, and his ton, off 50 balls, with a six off Abrar Ahmed.
Lahore, however, could only score 33 more runs following Fakhar’s dismissal on the first ball of the 17th over. Charith Asalanka was their second-highest scorer with 31 off 24, while Daniel Sams hit two fours and a six to get to 18 off 12.
