Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Amir were involved in a heated argument during the PSL 2026 game between Rawalpindiz and Islamabad United.
Mohammad Amir dismisses Faheem Ashraf before the duo exchange words
Islamabad batted first in the game played at the National Stadium in Karachi, and were reduced to 30-3 in 6.1 overs, losing an in-form Sameer Minhas, along with Mohammad Faiq and captain Shadab Khan. The New Zealand duo of Devon Conway and Mark Chapman added 49 runs together for the fourth wicket, before both fell in quick succession to leave Islamabad at 79-5.
Faheem Ashraf, coming in at No.7, couldn’t put up much of a fight, falling to a slower bouncer from Mohammad Amir, which he tried to upper-cut over Mohammad Rizwan, only to edge it to the wicketkeeper. His dismissal added to Islamabad’s worries as they went down to 99-7.
There were some words exchanged between Amir and Faheem as the latter walked off, before angrily pointing his bat towards the former Pakistan quick. Amir signalled Faheem to walk away, and the duo eventually had to be held back by the Rawalpindiz players and support staff on the field.
Rawalpindiz register their first-ever PSL win
Chris Green played a handy knock of 29 off 16 to take Islamabad to a fighting 137-run total against a team that was yet to register their first win in eight PSL games this season. Rawalpindiz lost opener Abdullah Fazal on the first delivery of the chase, but Rizwan and Kamran Ghulam steadied the ship, adding 78 runs for the second wicket.
They were well placed after the first 10 overs to complete the chase without any hiccups, needing 54 more at less than a run a ball. But Rizwan and Sam Billings’ dismissals left them in a tricky situation, before Daryl Mitchell and Dian Forrester calmly finished the proceedings in the penultimate over, marking their first-ever PSL win.
