PSL 2026: Latest updates on player retentions, signings and updated squads ahead of the auction

Mohammad Rizwan, who has played for Multan Sultans since 2021, was not retained by the team. The franchise did not make any retentions. 

Lahore have retained four players - Shaheen Afridi, Abdullah Shafique and Mohammad Naeem, along with Sikandar Raza. He is one of the two foreigners to be retained by a side, after Islamabad held on to Andries Gous. 

Despite recent rumours that Babar Azam might not be retained by Peshawar Zalmi, he is their top retention for the 2026 season. Along with him, the franchise have also held on to Sufyan Moqim, Abdul Samad and Ali Raza.

Quetta have also signed up four players - Abrar Ahmed (Platinum), Usman Tariq (Diamond), and Hassan Nawaz (Gold). Their emerging player is Shamyl Hussain, a 21-year-old left-handed batter, who has played seven T20s thus far.

Karachi Kings have held on to Hassan Ali, Khushdil Shah, Saad Baig, and Abbas Afridi for the 2026 edition of the PSL.

Islamabad have made three retentions: Shadab Khan (Platinum), Salman Irshad (Gold), and Andries Gous. 

Smith has been signed up by Sialkot Stallionz, with the franchise also bringing in Tim Paine as their head coach. Smith had signed up for the 2019 PSL but was ruled out due to an injury. 

Each franchise can retain up to four players, not more than one from each category. The categories are Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging. 

All teams have to announce their retentions by February 3, with February 6 being the deadline for the new teams to announce their signings.
