Defending champions Lahore Qalandars batted first after skipper Shaheen Afridi won the toss. Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Naeem got off to a blinder, putting on 84 in 8.1 overs before the latter hit Hassan Khan to long on to depart for 30. Fakhar top-scored with 53 as wicketkeeper Haseebullah Khan provided late impetus to the innings with an unbeaten 40 off 28 balls. Shaheen also did his part with the bat, coming in with two balls to go and hitting both for six, taking his side to 199.
In reply, the Kingsmen lost openers Usman Khan and Saim Ayub in the Powerplay, with 33 on the board. Kusal Perera and Irfan Khan Niazi were also back in the hut two overs later, and they slipped to 84-6 and 97-7. In the end, they crumbled to 130 all out and a 69-run loss in their first-ever match.
