PSL have banned Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani for two years after he chose to let go of his PSL deal to play in the IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders.
Blessing Muzarabani banned from PSL for two years
Muzarabani was picked up by Islamabad United as a replacement player in PSL 2026 after initially going unsold in the auction. However, he let go of his PSL deal after Kolkata Knight Riders approached him as a replacement player for Mustafizur Rahman, who in turn, was let go of in controversial circumstances.
On Tuesday (April 14), the PSL committee announced that Muzarabani would not be allowed to participate in the next two seasons of the Pakistan Super League.
"Following a thorough disciplinary review, the PCB has announced that Zimbabwean cricketer Blessing Muzarabani is declared ineligible to participate in the next two (2) editions of the HBL PSL, effective immediately," read the statement. "This decision stems from a fundamental failure to honor agreed-upon commitments, an action that undermines the professional framework of the league.
"The PCB maintains that professional cricket operates on the bedrock of trust and the certainty of agreements. In this instance, despite a clear offer and an unequivocal acceptance of essential terms, the player chose to disregard these obligations in favor of a conflicting arrangement."
A similar incident occurred last year when Corbin Bosch left the PSL to join Mumbai Indians in the IPL and was subsequently banned from the Pakistan Super League. However, the ban was only for one year then. Muzarabani has been banned for two.
Two more players – Dasun Shanaka and Spencer Johnson – have withdrawn from PSL 2026 to join IPL teams this season. Going by the precedent set, a similar fate might await them.
So far, Muzarabani has taken four wickets from two matches for KKR.
