Pakistan limited-overs all-rounder Khushdil Shah continued his exceptional batting form in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, falling short of a third hundred in three games by just five runs.
Khushdil Shah follows double hundred with 95 in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy
Until two weeks back, Khushdil Shah had two 90-plus scores in 74 first-class innings. In three rounds of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy since then, the left-hander has crossed 90 thrice in four innings, including one 150-plus score and a double hundred.
The run started with a match-saving 159 while following on for FATA against Islamabad, which was followed by a career-best 206 in a mammoth team total of 687-7 declared against Abbottabad. He's now backed it up with 95 in the first innings against Bahawalpur.
Batting first, FATA lost both their openers early. Khushdil walked out at No.4 with the team score reading 18-2 and rescued the innings with Salman Khan, who ended up making 114. Khushdil counter-attacked his way through the first session, hitting 13 fours and two sixes before he was out stumped at 95 off the bowling of Muhammad Umair.
He now has 480 runs at 120 in his last four innings, and his career average has shot up from 25.95 before the start of this streak to 30.90 at the time of writing.
What is Khushdil Shah's record across formats?
The 30-year-old made his debut for Pakistan in 2019 in a T20I against Australia at Perth. Since then, he has played 38 T20Is and 15 ODIs primarily as a lower-order hitter and a left-am orthodox spin option.
His most recent outing in ODIs came during Pakistan's Champions Trophy clash against India in February 2025, while he featured in T20 Asia Cup in September. He wasn't picked for the white-ball series against South Africa or the ongoing one against Sri Lanka, and has never quite come close to making it to the Test team.
50-over cricket has been Khushdil's most productive format. From 114 matches, he has amassed 3,418 runs at 36.75 and a strike rate of 95.52 with eight hundreds. He has also taken 87 wickets at an economy rate of 5.37. In T20s, Khushdil is vastly experienced, having played 208 games, scored 3,681 runs and taken 90 wickets.
