Retired England batter Dawid Malan became the latest to join the 10,000-run club in T20s during a T20 Blast 2025 match between Yorkshire and Leicestershire on Sunday (June 8).
Dawid Malan reaches 10,000 T20 runs
Malan entered the match needing just two runs to reach the milestone. He completed the feat in a remarkable fashion by hitting seamer Matt Salisbury for a six over cover. After racing to his fifty off 30 balls, he ended with a 48-ball 88, powering Yorkshire to 213-7. The former England batter’s innings was studded with eight fours and five sixes. Will Luxton, who hit his maiden half-century – a 34-ball 62 – was involved in a 132-run stand with Malan.
The Foxes, in response, were skittled out for 107 in 16.5 overs. Jafer Chohan folded the innings with a ball left in his spell, finishing with 4-27. Dom Bess also supported with 2-25.
Malan became the fifth English batter to reach 10,000 career men's T20 runs in his 365th match, following Jos Buttler, Alex Hales, Jason Roy and James Vince to the milestone. With 10,086 runs to his tally, he is currently ranked 18th on the list of highest run-getters in T20 cricket. The list is headed by former West Indies batter Chris Gayle, who has 14,562 runs and was also the first batter to breach the 10,000-run mark in T20s.
Malan played 62 T20Is for England, scoring 1892 runs at 36.38 and 132.49. He also holds the joint record for the fastest batter to 1,000 T20I runs, doing so in his 24th innings. In September 2020, he reached the top of the ICC T20I batting rankings as well.
