Harry Brook became the joint-fastest Englishman to 3000 Test runs since 1930 during the Ashes 2025/26 Boxing Day Test.
As Brook completed his seventh run on a whirlwind first day of the Boxing Day Test at the MCG, he joined Denis Compton as the second-fastest England batter to complete 3000 Test runs in terms of innings played. Compton and Brook both took 57 innings to reach the landmark, with the former doing so during the Lord’s Test against New Zealand in 1949.
The fastest Englishman to reach the landmark is Herbert Sutcliffe, who did so in just 52 innings. He had scored his 3000th run in the format during the Nottingham Test of the 1930 Ashes. Overall, Don Bradman is still the fastest to score 3000 Test runs, taking just 33 innings, followed by Everton Weekes and Marnus Labuschagne, who both took 51 innings each.
Brian Lara is joint-fourth on the list with Sutcliffe, having taken 52 innings to score his first 3000 Test runs.
