Harry Brook equalled the record for the fastest half-century ever scored in The Hundred yesterday (August 4), as SunRisers Leeds broke multiple records on their way to the highest-ever total in the competition.
The England white-ball captain hammered his fifty off just 15 balls against London Spirit, as SunRisers Leeds raced to 241-2 at the end of their innings.
Brook's knock included five sixes and five fours, with the biggest of the lot a no-look maximum whacked over deep midwicket and onto the Headlingley roof. Having hit Jamie Overton for four consecutive boundaries, including a slice over the deep-third boundary, his onslaught was ended when he picked out long off looking for back-to-back boundaries off David Willey, with three balls left of the innings.
SunRisers total of 241-2, eclipsed the previous highest in the men's competition, which was 226-4 set last year by Oval Invincibles, was built before Brook came in by a devastating opening partnership between Mitchell Marsh and Ryan Rickelton. Together, the pair put on 148 from 64 balls before Marsh was dismissed by Milne for 76 off 37 balls. Their partnership was the highest-ever in the history of the men's competition, eclipsing Jimmy Neesham and Tom Curran's 127-run stand set in 2023.
By the end of the innings, SunRisers had hit the most sixes in a Hundred innings, with Dan Lawrence hitting the final maximum off the last ball. The 21 they hit were four more than the previous record, which was again set by Oval Invincibles last year.

However, while SunRisers' total looked unbeatable for London Spirit, their effort saw more records tumble. A poor start saw them lose Jonny Bairstow off the second ball of the chase, before Lhuan-dre Pretorious picked out the fielder 10 balls later. From there, the visitors slipped to 56-5 when James Coles and James Rew departed for just one run between them.
It was No.7 David Willey who saw them through to a respectable chase. Having come in to face the 27th ball of the innings, he used a poor over from Brydon Carse, where the England all-rounder bowled two full-tosses called as no-balls, to accelarate. When Dewald Brevis was out to a slower ball from Reece Topley, he took the lead, reaching a 31-ball fifty and hitting 13 boundaries by the end of his innings to see Spirit past 200.
Despite falling short by 37 runs, Spirit's innings saw the record for the most sixes in a single match of The Hundred eclipsed, with 31 scored across the game. The match also saw the most runs ever scored in a Hundred fixture – 445.
The win saw SunRisers boost their chances of qualification for the knockout stages. They currently sit fourth in the table, equal on points to third-placed MI London. London Spirit have still managed just one win from their five matches so far this season.
