After being put in to bat, the Birmingham Phoenix got off to a superb start after Joe Clarke and Will Smeed stitched a 104-run stand for the first wicket, taking up just 49 deliveries. Rehan Ahmed's 25-ball 48 and Donovan Ferreira's 9-ball 22 steered the Phoenix towards a mammoth 214/4 in their 100 balls. Calvin Harrison picked up two wickets in exchange of 27 runs.
In reply, Trent Rockets got off to a flying start as well, with Finn Allen's 17-ball 43 highlighting the chase. His opening stand with Duckett lasted 65 runs off just 29 deliveries, after which Tom Banton scored sa quickfire 32-ball 67 with four fours and five sixes. However, none of the other batters could get going, and the Rockets lost their way. Usman Tariq and Scott Currie picked two wickets each, giving away 36 and 40 runs respectively.
