After being invited to bat first, Welsh Fire posted 144 runs for the loss of three wickets. Following Georgia Voll’s commanding half-century, it was skipper Sophie Devine’s unbeaten 35 off 19 that propelled the Fire to more than a competitive total at Edgbaston.
The run chase started pretty slowly for the Phoenix as they lost both their openers by 28 balls, with the score reading only 35 runs.
