Jayden Seales (L) of West Indies celebrates the dismissal of Saim Ayub (R) of Pakistan during the second One Day International (ODI) cricket match between West Indies and Pakistan at Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago on August 10, 2025

Pakistan slipped to fifth in the ICC men’s ODI rankings after losing the second ODI of their three-match series against West Indies in Tarouba on Sunday (August 10).

The second match of the series was curtailed due to rain interruptions. Pakistan's top order failed to deliver, with Babar Azam registering his fifth career duck. His century drought now extends to 28 innings spanning nearly two years - his last hundred being the 151 against Nepal in the Asia Cup on August 30, 2023.

Hasan Nawaz, who had won Pakistan the previous match with a debut half-century, managed a promising 36 not out off 30 balls but didn't have much support from other batters. Jayden Seales (3-23 from 7 overs) dismantled Pakistan's batting lineup. The visitors were 171-7 with three overs remaining in their reduced 40-over innings when rain returned to stop play. They didn't bat further as West Indies were asked to chase a DLS revised target of 181 in 35 overs.

West Indies faced an early scare, losing their top three for 48 before being reduced to 107-5. However, Roston Chase's unbeaten 49 off 47 balls guided them to victory comfortably without further setback, with 10 balls to spare. The series is tied 1-1 with one match still to be played.

Updated ICC men’s ODI team rankings after second WI vs PAK ODI

West Indies entered the series languishing at 10th in the ICC men's ODI rankings. With Sunday's win, they not only kept alive their hopes in the three-match series but also climbed one spot in the rankings, returning to the automatic qualification positions for the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Pakistan, meanwhile, slipped one place to fifth - a position previously held by Sri Lanka, who rose to fourth.

India stay atop the rankings despite not having played an ODI since winning the Champions Trophy by defeating New Zealand in the final in March.
