Former West Indies Test captain Jason Holder took 4-19 against Pakistan on Saturday (August 2), breaking a team record held by Dwayne Bravo.
In the second T20I between the sides in Lauderhill, Florida, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and chose to bat first. On a sluggish surface, they slipped to 21-3 as Jason Holder got rid of both openers, Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan, for single-digit scores.
Fakhar Zaman (20) and then Agha (38) stabilised the innings somewhat, before Hasan Nawaz, batting at No.6, threatened to step on the accelerator after hitting four sixes en route to 40 off 22 balls. But Holder dismissed the danger man in the 16th over, forcing him to chip back a simple caught and bowled chance.
In his final over, the 19th of the innings, Holder had Mohammad Nawaz caught at long-on, finishing with figures of 4-19. That took his tally of T20I wickets to 81, moving past Dwayne Bravo's 78 to set a new record in men's T20Is for the West Indies. Four women – Anisa Mohammed (125), Hayley Matthews (111), Stafanie Taylor (98) and Afy Fletcher (90) – have taken more in T20Is for the West Indies.

Holder's involvement in the game did not end there. With the West Indies 98-7 in 16.5 overs, needing 36 off 19 balls, they looked set for defeat before Holder made his way to 16 off 10 balls, including a boundary off the final delivery of the match to take them over the line. The win snapped a streak of six consecutive T20I losses, including a 5-0 series loss to Australia last month.
