Nashra Sandhu bamboozled Hong Kong with her left-arm spin, returning figures of 6-7 to help Pakistan storm into the Asia Cup semifinals.
With Pakistan defending 143, Sandhu was introduced in the ninth over of Hong Kong's chase, and completed her six-for by the 12th. She eventually finished with 6-7 in four overs to register the best-ever T20I figures by a Pakistan bowler, men or women. The 28-year-old also became the first Pakistan bowler to pick up six wickets in a T20I.
Omaima Sohail previously held the record for women, having picked up five wickets for just 13 runs against Sri Lanka in October 2022, also during the Asia Cup. Sandhu’s 6-7 are the second-best bowling figures among Full Member nations, with Chamari Athapaththu leading the list. The Sri Lanka legend picked up seven wickets, including a hat-trick, for just five runs last week against Indonesia in the ongoing Asia Cup.

The left-arm spinner dismissed Yasmin Daswani in her first over, before sending back Marina Lamplough and Maryam Bibi in her second. She then bowled a three-wicket over to send back Shanzeen Shahzad, Alison Siu and Iqra Sahar, completing her six-for and helping Pakistan bowl Hong Kong out for 71 to seal a 72-run win and book a semifinal spot.
Earlier in the game, Pakistan posted 143-8 in 20 overs after opting to bat. Shawaal Zulfiqar top-scored for them, smashing 47 off 35 deliveries with six fours. Joyleen Kaur starred with the ball for Hong Kong, picking up four wickets for 19 runs in her four-over spell.
Pakistan will now face Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup semifinal on Friday, September 11, while the winner of the Bangladesh vs UAE matchup will face India in the other last-four encounter.
