AUS vs SA: Team news ahead of the WTC final

Australia’s squad sees the return of Cameron Green after a long injury layoff. His comeback is expected to reshuffle the batting order. Marnus Labuschagne, under pressure due to a lean patch, is likely to retain his spot and could open the innings, replacing Sam Konstas, who made his debut in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Another returnee from injury, Josh Hazlewood, is set to slot straight back into the XI, possibly replacing Scott Boland.

For South Africa, Ryan Rickelton will open alongside Aiden Markram, as confirmed by head coach Shukri Conrad. Wiaan Mulder, promoted to No. 3 against Sri Lanka, will continue as the specialist all-rounder, though his place in the top order is not yet guaranteed. David Bedingham, having recovered from a toe injury, is expected to retain his middle-order spot. Meanwhile, the Proteas face a selection dilemma over their third pacer, with either Lungi Ngidi or Corbin Bosch likely to get the nod.

WTC final: Is there a reserve day?

A reserve day (June 16) has been allocated in case bad weather disrupts play over the first five days. If no result is achieved within the scheduled time, the match will extend into the sixth day.
