Bangladesh registered a massive 104-run win over Pakistan to take a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series. Here’s what the WTC points table looks like after the result.
Bangladesh registered their first-ever Test win over Pakistan at home, bowling them out comfortably on the final day after setting a 268-run target. The visitors began their chase just before lunch on the fifth day and were well-placed at tea to try and push for the target. But they lost seven wickets in the final session to lose by 104 runs.
Bangladesh posted a strong 413 in the first innings, riding on captain Najmul Hossain Shanto’s record hundred, and impactful knocks from Mominul Haque (91) and Mushfiqur Rahim (71). Pakistan debutant Azan Awais tonned up in reply, while his fellow debutant Abdullah Fazal scored a fifty as well, and so did Salman Agha and Mohammad Rizwan.

But once the Agha-Rizwan partnership was broken by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who claimed a five-for, Pakistan went from 349-6 to 386 all out. Mominul and Shanto then scored second-innings half-centuries as Bangladesh declared at 240-9 in the first session of the last day to force a result, which they did. Nahid Rana then picked up his second Test five-for to help Bangladesh win.
