The 2025 women’s ODI series between South Africa and Pakistan has already seen a record number of six individual centuries

The 2025 women’s ODI series between South Africa and Pakistan has already seen a record number of six individual centuries.

Batting first in the second match in Lahore, South Africa posted a massive 260-run opening stand, the third-highest in women's ODIs. It sits behind the 268 by Caroline Atkins and Sarah Taylor (vs South Africa, 2008) and the world-record 320 by Punam Raut and Deepti Sharma (vs Ireland, 2017).

Tazmin Brits, nearing a world record with her third consecutive century, scored an unbeaten 171, while her opening partner, captain Laura Wolvaardt, made 100. In a rain-curtailed match, Pakistan were asked to chase a DLS revised target of 313 runs in 46 overs.

Pakistan mounted a spirited response, led by Sidra Amin's 122. Natalia Pervaiz also chipped in with 73, but they ultimately fell short by 25 runs, bowled out for 287.

There have only been four instances in women's ODI history where a match featured at least three centuries. Remarkably, two of them have occurred in the ongoing series within a span of three days. In the series opener, Amin, Marizanne Kapp, and Brits were the centurions. Notably, South Africa have been one of the competing teams on all four occasions.

The visitors have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead going into the third match on Monday (September 22).
