Pakistan opener Muneeba Ali scored a 68-ball 100* in the third T20I against Ireland, making her one of eight female batters from Full Member countries with multiple tons in the format.

Pakistan, chasing 156 to avoid a series whitewash, lost opener Shawaal Zulfiqar (3) early, followed by Natalia Pervaiz (9) two overs later. Fellow opener Muneeba then combined with Aliya Riaz to steady the innings, the pair adding an unbeaten 101 to take Pakistan towards the target.

While Riaz scored 39 in 27, it was Muneeba who stole the show, striking at 147.05 during her 68-ball unbeaten hundred. Her innings contained 14 fours and one six, as Pakistan chased down the total in 17.4 overs.

Muneeba reached her fifty in 28 balls, but slowed down thereafter, as both batters focused on rotating the strike. Between overs 10 and 15, Pakistan added only 44 runs, but with a modest target of 155, the priority remained preserving wickets.

There was a moment when it seemed like Muneeba would be stranded without getting to triple digits. After the end of the 16th over, Pakistan needed another 17 for a win, and she needed 16 for a hundred. She faced ten of the last 11 deliveries in the match, getting to her hundred on the last delivery of the game, when one was needed for a win.

Muneeba, the only centurion for Pakistan in women’s T20 cricket, is also one of 14 women’s players with two or more T20I tons. Of them, eight belong to Full Member countries. Chamari Athapaththu and Hayley Matthews have the highest number of women’s T20I hundreds among players from Full Member countries - three each. Muneeba also has an ODI hundred, making her the only female Pakistani batter with tons in both white-ball formats.

In 80 T20I matches, she has scored 1,443 runs at 20.32 with a strike rate of 96. Muneeba has also played 49 ODIs, making 1,189 runs at an average of 25.84.
