The Bengal Pro T20 League, a state-based league in India, becomes the latest Indian franchise tournament postponed amid escalating India-Pakistan tensions.

In 2024, the Bengal Pro T20 League made history as India’s first state-run women’s T20 competition. The women’s edition for this year was originally scheduled to begin on May 16, followed by the men’s tournament on June 4, immediately after the IPL.

However, the tournament will not begin as planned due to the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) stated that the revised schedule will be published in due course of time.

"Considering the prevailing national circumstances, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has decided to postpone the start of Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2 and all related pre-events until further notice. A revised schedule, including updated venues and fixtures, will be shared after a detailed review of the situation in coordination with relevant authorities, stakeholders, and any advisory issued by the BCCI," read a CAB statement.

The decision comes on the same day the BCCI postponed the remainder of IPL 2025, following last night's suspended match in Dharamshala between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called off abruptly. Initially halted because of a floodlight failure, the suspension was later confirmed as a "precautionary move" by IPL chair Arun Singh Dhumal.

According to India’s Ministry of Defence, three military stations, including Pathankot – just 85 km from the match location – were targeted. Since the airspace was closed, the players and support staff were moved out to Delhi by train.

Across the border, Pakistan cricket has also felt the impact of escalating military tensions between the two nations. On Friday, the PCB postponed PSL 2025 following the abrupt suspension of the Karachi Kings-Peshawar Zalmi match in Rawalpindi on May 8.
