A memorable moment unfolded in the Shpageeza Cricket League when Hassan Eisakhil struck his father, Mohammad Nabi, for a six off the very first ball he faced from him.
Mohammad Nabi's son smashes him for first-ball six
Amo Sharks were batting first against Mis Ainak Knights at Kabul, and Eisakhil, opening the innings, got off to a steady start. He was on 34 off 23 balls, with Amo on 66-2 after eight overs, when Afghanistan great Nabi came on to bowl. Nabi, who has played 308 international games, picking up 281 wickets and scoring 5,987 runs across formats, bowled round the wicket to his son, who picked up the length and sent it sailing over for a huge six.
Nabi stayed transfixed at the shot, as the excited commentators exclaimed: “What manners, he’s your dad bowling at you, man. You’re my father, and off the field, I might have a lot of respect for you, but if you are bowling like that, I’m going to dispatch it.”
Eisakhil scored 12 runs off the over, the only one that Nabi bowled in the innings. The right-handed batter was dismissed for 52 off 36 balls at a strike rate of 144.44, hitting one more six in his innings.

The 18-year-old’s rise has delayed Nabi, now 40, from taking ODI retirement, as he harbours dreams of playing with his son. Last Novemner, Nabi said he would quit 50-over cricket after the Champions Trophy, but has confirmed that he is still thinking about his future. "These might not be my last ODIs, I will probably play less ODIs and give chances to the youngsters to build experience," Nabi told the ICC. "I've discussed with the senior players and in the high-level games, maybe or maybe not, we'll see. It will depend on my fitness.
"It's my dream [to play for Afghanistan with my son]. Hopefully we can do it. He is doing very well … he is a hard worker, and I'm also pushing him to do work.”
Eisakhil took part in the U19 World Cup last year, but made only 43 runs in four games. He has since made his first-class debut and ended the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament with 330 runs at 47.14 in four games. He also scored two hundreds, including one on debut. Eisakhil also has 24 T20s under his belt, scoring 547 runs at a strike rate of 119.69.
