Watch: Pakistan Shaheens batter Khawaja Nafay was furious with his opening partner after being run-out at the non-striker's end following a disastrous miscommunication between the pair in their Top End T20 fixture against Bangladesh A.
The opening partnership had put on 118 runs in the first 11 overs of the game, with both Nafay and Yasir Khan passing 50. They looked set to put on a big target in the first match of the series.
However, the first ball of the 12th over produced an avoidable wicket. Khan was on strike to right-arm pacer Mrittunjoy Chowdhury, and looked to flick a ball angling across him into the leg side. The ball thudded into his pads, looking to be missing the stumps by some distance, and trickled across the pitch. Nafay set off immediately to take a quick single with the keeper standing back, but Khan hesitated to check whether the ball was rolling back towards his stumps. Despite Khan then holding his hand up to send Nafay back, he continued to run down the pitch.

By the time Nafay did turn back after Khan took one step down the pitch before deciding against risking the single, the wicketkeeper had almost gathered the ball. Nafay sprinted to make his ground, but the ball was thrown cleanly into Chowdhury, who was waiting behind the non-striker's stumps, and he cleanly took the bails off with Nafay well short.
Nafay was visibly furious with Khan over the run out, and immediately hurled his bat onto the turf out of frustration. He then turned and gestured aggressively towards Khan, throwing both his arms out and pointing.
After Nafay had left the field following the confrontation, Khan was dismissed in the following over. Pakistan Shaheens went on to post 227-4 off their 20 overs, with Abdul Samad also making a half-century. Bangladesh A were then bowled out for 148, giving the Shaheens an 80-run win.
