Playing for White Rock Warriors, Jones walked out to bat at No.6, with the score reading 69-4 after six overs. A competitive target looked out of the picture at that point, but Jones had other ideas: He got going immediately, scoring 16 off the first four balls that he faced, including two fours and a six.
The ninth over of the innings, bowled by Dan Christian, was when the momentum turned completely. Christian conceded a wide first up, then went on to concede 34 runs off the next six legal deliveries. Jones, on strike for each of the deliveries, started the over with three sixes before hitting a four on the fourth ball. He struck two more sixes in the over, also bringing up his fifty in just ten balls.

Jones faced five more balls, scoring 17 runs, to finish with an unbeaten 67 in 15 deliveries. His innings contained eight sixes and four fours, coming at a strike rate of 446.66. Though not the same format, the record for the fastest fifty in a T20 game belongs to Dipendra Singh Airee, who took only nine balls for a half-century, against Mongolia.

Who is Aaron Jones?
Growing up in Barbados, but playing for the USA, the 30-year-old had his breakout moment when he smashed a 40-ball 94* in the T20 World Cup opener against Canada last year.
Chasing 195 for a win, the USA were 48-2 after eight overs, but he played a blinder, hitting 10 sixes in a knock that brought him instant eyeballs. He also played a vital role in the win against Pakistan, scoring an unbeaten 36 as the match went to the Super Over. He ended the tournament with 162 runs at 40.50.
It helped Jones secure contracts in Major League Cricket and the Caribbean Premier League. While he did not have a successful time overall, his unbeaten knock of 48 off 31 balls in the 2024 CPL final helped St Lucia Kings win the title.
