Teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke yet another record during his U19 Asia Cup knock on Friday (December 12).
Vaibhav Suryavanshi kicks off U19 Asia Cup with century
The 2025 edition of the tournament began on Friday, with India taking on UAE at the ICC Academy and Pakistan playing Malaysia at the Sevens Stadium in Dubai.
India batted first after being put in by UAE skipper Yayin Rai. They were rocked early as Yug Sharma had Ayush Mhatre caught behind for four in the third over, bringing Aaron George to the crease alongside Suryavanshi. The pair took India to 59-1 by the end of the first powerplay.

Suryavanshi completed a half-century shortly afterwards, off 30 balls. Thereafter, he began to accelerate and got to a century in 56 balls, hitting nine sixes by that point. That is the third-fastest recorded century in men's Youth ODIs. Suryavanshi himself holds the record, with a 52-ball ton against England earlier this year.
His next 50 runs came off 28 deliveries, and hit four further sixes on the way. The last of those earned him another world record, for the most sixes hit in a single men's youth ODI innings, breaking Michael Hill's 17-year-old mark of 12. By the time he was bowled attempting to scoop left-arm leggie Uddish Suri, Suryavanshi had hit 14 sixes, and made 171 off 95.
Half-centuries from George (69) and Vihaan Malhotra (69) as well as cameos from Vedant Trivedi, Abhigyan Kundu and Kanishk Chouhan helped India post 433-6, the third-highest total in a men's youth ODI after Australia's 480-6 against Kenya in 2002, and New Zealand's 436-4 against the same opposition in 2018.
