Against Malaysia, Sameer Minhas smashed 177 not out, the highest score for Pakistan in Youth ODIs as well as in the history of the U19 Asia Cup.
Sameer Minhas sets national record
Pakistan U19 amassed 345-3 after Malaysia U19 captain Deeaz Patro won the toss and opted to field in Dubai. Pakistan were 30-2 in the 10th over when Ahmed Hussain joined Sameer at the crease: the next wicket fell on 323, with only seven balls left in the innings.
Sameer (177 not out in 148 balls, 11 fours, eight sixes) and Hussain (132 in 114, eight fours, two sixes) put on 293, the second-highest partnership for any wicket in Youth ODIs. The record still belongs to Dan Lawrence and Jack Burnham, who added 303 for the second wicket against Fiji at Chattogram in the 2016 U19 World Cup.
Sameer’s 177 not out is also the highest score in the history of the tournament. He went past Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s 171, set around an hour ago in the same city against the hosts UAE. It is also the highest score in the format for Pakistan.
