The player draft for the 2025 season of the Caribbean Premier League will take place on June 18. Get all the live updates right here.
The twelfth season of the Caribbean Premier League wrapped up last year with St Lucia Kings winning their maiden title. Led by former Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis, they overcame another South African-led franchise, Imran Tahir's Guyana Amazon Warriors, in the final.
At the draft, to be held on June 18, incoming players will be signed up, and the retained and pre-signed players will also be announced. There is one change to the drafting process this time around. The last three rounds will be reserved for players who took part in the West Indies Breakout League, a new development tournament organised by Cricket West Indies which had its first season earlier this year.
Teams will also be required to play at least one of the players drafted in these rounds in each match during the course of the CPL season. Given the focus on developing players, it is similar to the Emerging Player category in the Pakistan Super League.
A few high-profile trades have already been made – Jason Holder moved from Barbados Royals to St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, who also signed Alick Athanaze from the Royals, in exchange for Sherfane Rutherford.
The new season will begin on August 14, with the final scheduled for September 21.
