India international Kiran Navgire smashed nearly ninety-four percent of her team’s runs en route to a sensational hundred in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, India's annual domestic T20 tournament.
Kiran Navgire slams 21 boundaries in world-record century
Opening the innings for Maharashtra in the run chase of 111 against Punjab in Nagpur today (October 17), Navgire, who has played six T20Is for India, remained unbeaten on 106 off just 35 balls. She lost her opening partner, Ishwari Savkar, on the seventh ball of the innings, but along with Mukta Magre, Navgire took the team over the line in just eight overs.
The unbeaten 103-run partnership was heavily skewed, with Magre making just six runs off 10 balls, and Navgire smashing 97 off 31. She brought up her hundred in 34 balls - the fastest ever by a woman in the format - ending her innings with 14 fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of an astonishing 302.86. It is the quickest hundred made in a women’s T20 match, and the only hundred by a woman that came at a strike rate of over 300.
Who is Kiran Navgire?
The 31-year-old first broke onto the scene during the 2022 Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, where she hit 35 sixes, the most ever in a single season of the tournament. She also smashed a 76-ball 162 against Arunachal Pradesh, becoming just the first Indian to score 150-plus in a T20 match. In the Women’s T20 Challenge that year, she smashed the fastest fifty on her debut, reaching the milestone in 25 balls.

She was picked by UP Warriorz during the inaugural season of the WPL. Last year, she scored 57 off 31 balls, helping her team chase down 162, and this year, she struck a fiery 46 in only 16 balls against RCB, at a strike rate of 287.50.
Navgire made her T20I debut for India in 2022, and played six games, scoring just 17 runs at an average of 5.66. She has not played a T20I in the last three years.
