Sahibzada Farhan

Pakistan's record-breaking T20 World Cup opener Sahibzada Farhan has not been included on the longlist of players set to go under the hammer in the 2026 Hundred auction next week.

Farhan was not among the 16 Pakistan players included on the 425-name list. The 29-year-old opener scored a record-breaking century in the Pakistan's final Super Eights match of the T20 World Cup last week, becoming the first batter ever to score two hundreds in a men's T20 World Cup. He reached his century off 59 balls, having previously hit an unbeaten hundred against Namibia in the group stages, and went past Virat Kohli's record of the most runs scored in a single edition of the tournament during the innings.

Despite Sahibzada's efforts, Pakistan lost out to New Zealand on net run rate in the battle to claim the second semi-finals spot from Group Two.

Farhan was one of the players who registered for The Hundred auction, and last week said he was "hopeful" of playing in the competition. "Everyone wants to play the best leagues. The Hundred is one of the best leagues. Let's hope for the best," he said.

Sixteen Pakistan players included on Hundred auction longlist

Approximately 1,000 players registered to take part in the men's and women's auction. The initial list, which was announced last week, has been whittled down to 247 players for the men's auction and 178 for the women's. Each team submitted a list of 75-100 players they would be interested in signing, with all eight lists then combined into the longlist.

Among the 10 marquee players whose names will be called out first in the auction is Haris Rauf - who wasn't selected for Pakistan's T20 World Cup squad - while 14 men's players from Pakistan and two female players in total feature on the longlist in total.

The ECB and the eight Hundred franchises released a joint statement last week that selections during the auction would be made on "performance, availability, and the needs of each team". The statement was made after a report from the BBC that the teams under IPL ownership would not consider Pakistan players in the auction.

In addition to Rauf, who wasn't part of Pakistan's T20 World Cup squad, Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan and Usman Tariq have been included among the top tier of players set to enter the auction.
