Musheer Khan of India looks on during the ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup South Africa 2024 at Willowmoore Park on February 10, 2024 in Benoni, South Africa

Musheer Khan, younger brother of India Test cricketer Sarfaraz Khan, continued his red-hot form for Mumbai development side’s UK tour, completing another remarkable double of a century and a six-wicket haul.

Against the Challengers (Combined National Counties) at Radcliffe-on-Trent, London, Musheer starred for MCA Emerging Players after they were bowled out for 274 in the first innings. After falling for just one as opener in the first innings, he redeemed himself with a spin-bowling masterclass, claiming 6-38 in 8 overs to dismiss the hosts for 121.

Riding the momentum, he then smashed a 127-ball 125. His blazing knock, studded with 11 fours and a six, combined with contributions from Angkrish Raghuvanshi (66) and captain Suryansh Shedge (85), powered their side to 351-9 in 63 overs before declaring. The home team was asked to chase 504 in the fourth innings.

Musheer continues to show early promise

Musheer achieved his second century-and-six-wicket haul double of the week, having accomplished the same remarkable feat just three days earlier against Nottinghamshire's Second XI. In that previous match, he set the tone with a commanding 149-ball 123 in the first innings, powering MCA's development side to a strong total of 448.

With the ball, his devastating left-arm spin yielded figures of 6-31 from 8.2 overs, skittling Nottinghamshire for 201 and enforcing the follow-on. Though the hosts stumbled to 97-4 on day two, they eventually recovered to 250-7, securing a draw despite Musheer's dominant all-round performance.

Musheer, who was India's second-highest run-scorer at the 2024 U19 World Cup with two centuries, has shown early promise. Just weeks after that tournament, the teenager, who had made his first-class debut in 2022, announced his arrival by scoring his maiden first-class hundred for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal (his fourth match), converting it into a double century. He then became Mumbai's youngest centurion in a Ranji Trophy final with another ton.

His meteoric rise hit a snag last September, after he suffered a neck fracture. However, he recovered to make his IPL debut in 2025, for Punjab Kings during their Qualifier 1 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
