U19 World Cup 2026: What's the format of the tournament?

16 teams have qualified for the tournament and have been divided into four groups of four each. 12 teams, the top three from each of the four groups, will then qualify for the Super Six stage, where they will be divided into two groups of six. The top two teams from each group will then play the semifinals, scheduled for February 3 and 4, and then the final on February 6. All three knockout games will be played in Zimbabwe.

Australia enter the tournament as the defending champions, having won the last edition in 2024, and have been placed in Group A alongside Ireland, Japan, and Sri Lanka. Group B consists of the previous edition’s finalists India, Bangladesh, New Zealand and the USA. England, Pakistan, Scotland and Zimbabwe form Group C, while Afghanistan, South Africa, Tanzania and the West Indies constitute Group D.

Harare Sports Club (Zimbabwe), Takashinga Sports Club (Zimbabwe), Queens Sports Club (Zimbabwe), Namibia Cricket Ground (Namibia), and HP Oval (Namibia) are the five designated venues for the U19 tournament.
