The Women’s Big Bash League draft took place on Thursday, and here are the updated squads for the 2025 WBBL.
With the draft complete and the first ever Player Movement Window closed, WBBL teams have begun finalising their squads ahead of the upcoming season.
Sydney Sixers drafted England’s Sophia Dunkley and secured New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr as a pre-signing. Adelaide Strikers brought in England’s Sophie Ecclestone and Tammy Beaumont to join pre-signed South Africa skipper Laura Wolvaardt. Brisbane Heat retained India’s Jemimah Rodrigues and added Chinelle Henry and Nadine de Klerk.
Hobart Hurricanes landed England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and retained Danni Wyatt-Hodge, while Melbourne Stars signed Marizanne Kapp, Dani Gibson, and Amy Jones. Sydney Thunder retained Heather Knight and drafted Chamari Athapaththu and Shabnim Ismail.
Melbourne Renegades, hit by Hayley Matthews’ withdrawal due to a shoulder surgery, retained Deandra Dottin and picked Alice Capsey. Perth Scorchers held onto Sophie Devine for a sixth season and added Chloe Tryon and Paige Scholfield.
The 10-day transfer period saw three players change clubs, and domestic signings can now resume following the draft.
