West Indies vs Sri Lanka 2026 ODIs: Team news

The Shai Hope-led team boasts of multiple fast bowlers in Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, and Jayden Seales, who can trouble the Sri Lankan batting unit in Jamaica. While Shamar and Seales have played a lot of cricket lately, Alzarri returns to the ODI setup after almost 11 months, as he last played against Australia in July 2025.

Shimron Hetmyer also returns to the ODI fold after impressing everyone back home with his splendid performances in the 2026 T20 World Cup. Gudakesh Motie missed the last tour to New Zealand but is in the mix for the home series against Sri Lanka.

For the visitors, it’s a new-look team led by a new skipper as Kusal Mendis takes on the captaincy duties, while former skipper Charith Asalanka is also named in the 16-member squad.

Wanindu Hasaranga has also made the cut for the Caribbean tour after missing yet another IPL season, while Matheesha Pathirana has been ruled out due to the injury he picked up while representing Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

While the visitors will be without fast bowling ace Pathirana, Mendis will have the services of Dushmantha Chameera, Dilshan Madushanka, Eshan Malinga, Asitha Fernando, and Pramod Madushan in a well-rounded squad.
