After the final day of the league stage – a double-header at Lord’s – Australia and South Africa qualified for the semi-finals, while India and Bangladesh were eliminated.

Australia, South Africa qualify; India, Bangladesh eliminated

Bangladesh struggled to get going in the first match of the day as Marizanne Kapp (4-0-9-1), Shabnim Ismail (4-1-15-1), and Nonkumelelo Mlaba (4-0-22-2) restricted them to 117-5. Sobhana Mostary (42 in 48 balls) top-scored for Bangladesh, while captain Nigar Sultana Joty hit a 20-ball 32 not out.

After Annerie Dercksen’s run-a-ball 45, the South Africa chase seemed to be on track. However, they slipped from 87-3 to 113-6 before scraping through in the final over.

In the other game, captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s late burst (56 in 27) took India to 170-4. India were in the game when they reduced Australia to 68-3 in the 10th over, but Ellyse Perry (56 in 38) and Ash Gardner (53 not out in 29) ensured there were no more hiccups. Australia completed the chase with eight balls to spare.

Australia topped Group A and will face the West Indies in the semi-final, while South Africa will play hosts England.
