Biography
Nasum Ahmed is a left-arm orthodox spinner from Bangladesh, known for his accuracy, subtle variations, and ability to thrive in pressure situations. Emerging from Sylhet's cricketing circuit, he steadily built a reputation as a dependable bowler in both domestic and international arenas. Nasum began his professional journey with Sylhet Division, making his mark in Bangladesh's domestic circuits. His consistent performances earned him spots in various domestic teams, including Bangladesh U19, Sylhet Super Stars, Bangladesh U23, Chattogram Challengers, Beximco Dhaka, Khulna Tigers, and Bangladesh Cricket Board XI. In the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), he has been a regular feature, representing teams like Chattogram Challengers and Sylhet Strikers. Over the years, he has played numerous matches in the BPL, showcasing his skills against both local and international talents.
Nasum made his T20I debut for Bangladesh in 2021, against New Zealand. He quickly made headlines with standout performances, notably taking 4 wickets for 19 runs against Australia later that year, leading Bangladesh to their first T20I win over the Aussies. Another highlight was his 4 for 10 against New Zealand in September 2021, securing a series win for Bangladesh. He was subsequently named in the squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Nasum transitioned to the ODI format, making his debut in 2022, against the West Indies. In his second ODI, he impressed with figures of 3 for 19, playing a pivotal role in Bangladesh's victory. His performances earnd him a spot in the Bangladesh squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup, and a couple of years later, in the 2025 Champions Trophy team as well.
