ICC’s East Asia-Pacific region spans Oceania (including Australia and New Zealand) as well as parts of East Asia and South-East Asia. Cricket has been played in the region for a long time. So good a batter was the Fijian legend IL Bula (full name: Ilikena Lasarusa Talebulamainavaleniveivakabulaimainakulalakebalau) that New Zealand captain Walter Hadlee tried to find a loophole to get him to play Test cricket for his nation.

Kilikiti, a variant of cricket, is immensely popular in these regions, as are several variants of cricket that can (but need not) involve entire villages. Fiji are not the side they used to be, but the likes of Papua New Guinea and Samoa have come up to fill their place.
