On St Patrick’s Day in 2007, Ireland scripted one of the greatest fairy-tales in cricket history at the Sabina Park Cricket Ground. Fielding first, they bowled out Pakistan – 56-2 at one point – for a mere 132. The total included 29 extras, 23 of which were wides.

In response, only one Irish batter reached 20, but that man – their wicketkeeper – made 72, more than half the target. When he fell, his brother carried on with the job, pushing them towards a target against an attack featuring Mohammad Sami and Umar Gul. From 108-4, Ireland slipped to 113-7, but their captain stayed put and, fittingly, hit a six to seal the game. The result knocked Pakistan out of the World Cup.
