The 2025 Asia Cup starts on September 9. Here’s everything you need to know about all the Asia Cup squads, including the full team list and injury updates.

What's the schedule of Asia Cup 2025?

A total of 12 group matches will be played from September 9 to 19 among eight teams divided into two groups. The top two sides from each group will advance to the six-match Super Four stage, with the top two teams from that stage qualifying for the final on September 28.

Group A consists of Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan, while Group B includes the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Pakistan, India, and Oman.

Which team has won the most Asia Cup titles?

India enter the Asia Cup as the defending champions for winning the previous ODI edition in 2023. They are the most successful side, having won eight out of the 16 editions. Sri Lanka are next with six titles, while Pakistan have won two – in 2000 and 2012.

The Asia Cup, which started as an ODI tournament since its inception in 1984, was first held in the T20I format in 2016, as a precursor to the T20 World Cup. Since then, the format of the tournament has changed accordingly, based on the format of the upcoming World Cup. Likewise, the upcoming edition will be played in the T20I format, with the 2026 T20 World Cup on the horizon.

Asia Cup 2025 team news

India's most notable inclusion is the return of Shubman Gill to the T20I side, who has been named vice-captain alongside skipper Suryakumar Yadav. For Pakistan, their biggest news is the continued omission of senior players Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, with Salman Ali Agha retained as their skipper. Afghanistan have announced a 22-member preliminary squad led by Rashid Khan, while Litton Das will lead Bangladesh.
