The Pakistan Cricket Board on Tuesday (July 8) announced a 15-member squad for Pakistan's upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, scheduled to take place from July 20 to 24 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
Still no place for Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi
All-rounder Salman Ali Agha will continue to captain the T20I side that is sans senior players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi.
The trio have not been in contention for T20I selection since the tour of New Zealand earlier this year, with Pakistan focusing on a younger generation of players ahead of the T20 World Cup in 2026.
PSL fast bowler Salman Mirza called up
The squad includes experienced players such as Fakhar Zaman and Faheem Ashraf - both of whom haven't played a T20I this year - while fast bowler Salman Mirza earns a maiden call-up along with Ahmed Daniyal.
The 31-year-old Mirza, a left-arm seamer, was selected after taking nine wickets in four matches for Lahore Qalandars in PSL 2025, at an average of 15.00. Mirza made his senior professional cricket debut at the age of 27 and only has six first-class, three List A, and 23 T20 games to his name so far. Daniyal, a 28-year-old right-arm quick, picked up six wickets at 22.33 in PSL 2025 for Peshawar Zalmi.
Hasan Nawaz, who also impressed in PSL 2025, scoring 399 runs at 57 with a strike rate of 162.19, has also been picked. Nawaz made his T20I debut earlier this year and has impressed in the chances he has gotten. In the three T20Is against Bangladesh in May, he made 44, 51* and 26, and currently averages 37.83 in the format at a strike rate of 192.37 from eight games.
Mohammad Haris is the first-choice wicktkeeper in the squad, with Sahibzada Farhan also available for keeping duties if required.
Vice-captain Shadab Khan and pacer Haris Rauf were not considered for selection due to injuries. Shadab underwent shoulder surgery in the UK, while Rauf is recovering from a Grade 1 hamstring injury sustained during a Major League Cricket match for the San Francisco Unicorns. Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim Jr were also unavailable for selection due to their respective injuries.
The Pakistan team will be overseen by Mike Hesson, who was named the head coach of the white-ball side in May.
Paksitan are scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on July 16, with matches scheduled on July 20, 22, and 24. The two teams last faced each other in May 2025, when Pakistan won the T20I series 3-0 at home.
