Asa Tribe scores double hundred in County Championship

Playing for Glamorgan against Northamptonshire at Northampton, Tribe, opening the innings alongside Zain-ul-Hassan, played a lone hand as the batters around him failed to get going. Glamorgan lost their first wicket for 15, and were soon 103-4, which became 164-5 by the 42nd over. However, Tribe held one end up, and got able support from Chris Cooke, who contributed with 84.

Tribe ended day one (September 9) unbeaten on 181, overhauling his highest first-class score of 107. It was also his second ton in red-ball cricket, and seventh of his professional career. On Tuesday, Tribe converted it into a double ton, reaching the landmark in 293 balls. He was out four balls later, on 206, with his innings containing 31 fours and two sixes. Glamorgan ended their innings on 467 as they eye a promotion into Division One for next year’s County Championship. They are currently second on the table, with 169 points, behind top-placed Leicestershire, who have 195 points.
