Rehan Ahmed scored his third century of the season for Leicestershire today (June 23), playing in their County Championship match against Glamorgan following his promotion up the order.
The England leg-spinner hit 106 off 118 balls, including three sixes and 17 fours, in Leicestershire's reply to Glamorgan's first innings 353 all-out. Batting at No.3, he put on a 165-run partnership with Lewis Hill, after both openers were out within five overs of each other, Rishi Patel having made 70 and Sol Budinger 118. Having made his century, Rehan was out near the end of the day with Leicestershire already past Glamorgan's score. They finished the day on 389-3.

Rehan's role as a top order batter is relatively new in the first-class game. He was promoted to open the innings early in the season, in Leicestershire's previous game against Glamorgan. The move didn't immediately pay off, and he was out for a 20-ball 13. However, he hit a rapid half-century when he was backed to open again in Leicestershire's next match, and hit a century a week later against Lancashire, again opening the innings.
After a run of low scores which saw him reach a top score of 20 in his next six innings, Rehan hit his second century of the season, again against Lancashire, this time batting at No.3.

While more known for batting lower down the order as a leg-spinning all-rounder, Rehan's ability with the bat has been long talked about as a big feature of his appeal. He scored his maiden first-class century for Leicestershire in 2022, playing just his third Championship match at the age of 18. He was also promoted to No.3 by England on Test debut in Pakistan, scoring 10 runs off 8 balls when he came out as nighthawk in Karachi.
The 20-year-old's century for Leicestershire against Glamorgan means he is in the top 20 run-scorers in the Division Two Championship, and has a batting average of 41.66 for the season so far. Only one player, Kent's Ben Compton, has scored more centuries in the division this season than he has.
