Mohammad Rizwan of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots bats during the Men's 2025 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League match between Guyana Amazon Warriors v St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at Providence Stadium on September 07, 2025 in Georgetown, Guyana

Discarded Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan starred in St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ win over Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL 2025 on Sunday (September 7).

In late August, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots signed Rizwan as a replacement for Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi, who is away on international duty. Rizwan’s signing marked his first stint in the CPL. He now has two fifties in his last three innings.

Against the Guyana Amazon Warriors on Sunday, Rizwan held the Patriots’ innings together after they slipped to 87-5. When he was finally dismissed for 85 off 62 balls with two deliveries left in the innings, the Patriots reached 148-6. They added one more run to finish on 149-6, setting the Warriors a target of 150.

As usual, Rizwan was nimble on his feet. He hit his first six by charging down the wicket to seamer Dwaine Pretorius. He hit two more maximums and eight fours overall.

The match had a thrilling finish with Rizwan’s compatriot, Naseem Shah, also rising to the occasion. Naseem was tasked with bowling the final over, with the Warriors needing 11 runs to win. He took a wicket off the very first ball to dismiss Keemo Paul for nine and went on to concede just five runs off the next five balls, winning the match for his team by five runs. Naseem finished with figures of 2-29, while captain Jason Holder (1-21) was the most economical bowler for his side.

Mohammad Rizwan continues to improve his T20 numbers

Rizwan, who last played a T20I in December 2024, continues to be out of the Pakistan side as he was overlooked for the recent Asia Cup squad. However, he has been in fine form of late, scoring 555 runs at an average of 55.50 in 2025.

This is one of the best years he has ever had in T20s. Only once has he averaged more (56.55 in 2021) and his strike rate of 137.03 this year is also higher than his career strike rate of 125.99, which has been constantly under the scanner, ultimately leading to his ouster from the national team.
