The 2025-26 Duleep Trophy quarter-finals, which started on Thursday (August 28), are not being streamed live, drawing the ire of fans.
Duleep Trophy 2025 kicks off on August 28
Named after K.S. Duleepsinhji, the Duleep Trophy marks the beginning of the Indian domestic season. The latest edition started on August 28 and will be played until September 15. The first set of matches, the quarterfinals saw North Zone take on East Zone, and Central Zone take on North East Zone at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
However, unlike last year's edition, the matches are not being shown on any live-streaming platforms or television channels, which has resulted in fans slamming the BCCI. In 2024, the tournament was broadcast live on the Sports18 Network and the JioCinema app. (JioCinema later merged with Star Sports Network’s Hotstar to become JioHostar).

Currently, various Indian state-association-owned Twenty20 leagues are broadcast across multiple available platforms in India. The Delhi Premier League, Karnataka’s Maharaja T20 Trophy, and the Kerala Cricket League are shown on the Star Sports Network and streaming platform FanCode, while the UPT20 League can be watched on Sony Sports Network.
The 2025-26 edition of the Duleep Trophy reverted to the traditional zonal knockout format. The six competing teams are North Zone, East Zone, Central Zone, North East Zone, South Zone, and West Zone. This is a change from last year's format, which featured India A, B, C, and D teams playing in a round-robin tournament. West Zone and North Zone have jointly won the most titles, with 19 each.
Several India players like Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Shami, among others, are playing in this round. However, Shubman Gill, named North Zone’s captain, missed out, with deputy Ankit Kumar leading the side in his absence.
'Unacceptable', 'outrageous' - Indian fans bemoan lack of Duleep Trophy broadcast
Had the BCCI outsourced the streaming to the broadcasters of one of the many regional T20 tournaments in India, we could have watched Duleep Trophy matches live.

TNCA with it's infrastructure streams each game live in YT from U16 selection games to Buchi Babu with more than 10 state teams whereas BCCI is hesitant to stream it's premier domestic tournament Duleep Trophy even if they do that we'll have to bear the brunt of commentary in it.

I’m hearing the prestigious #DuleepTrophy won’t be streamed live. It is just unacceptable. The top domestic tournament, which will feature some of India’s stars won’t even be streamed. What to say? These days even gully cricket matches are streamed live on social media.

Duleep Trophy should have been streamed. There's a local football tournament going on in my area, that is also being streamed in HD quality. One of India's premier domestic tournaments, and fans can just see the scorecard. Unfair on fans, unfair on players as well.

In an era where even the smallest tennis ball tournaments are streamed live, it’s outrageous that BCCI doesn’t broadcast the Duleep Trophy, a premier first-class tournament that kicks off India’s domestic season. Truly awful.
