The 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy has been a run-fest, now breaking into the top three for the highest-scoring Test series of all time.
India's tour of England this year has almost been defined by the needle between the two sides throughout, as can happen when two evenly-matched teams, both imperfect in their own ways, do battle for an extended period of time.
Between the style of play on either side, and the conditions prevalent throughout the series though, much of the cricket itself has been about the batsmanship shown. India skipper Shubman Gill has led the way so far, his series tally of 754 runs the second-highest by any Indian, and second-highest by any Test captain. KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have also scored over 500 runs, while multiple England batters have the chance to cross that mark as well.
As of the end of day three of the fifth Test, nearly 7,000 runs have been scored across the series. Thirteen of the eighteen completed innings so far have seen 350 or more being scored, with one more possible in the final innings, during England's chase of 374.
With the hosts needing another 324 to win, the most they can score is 329 (by levelling the scores, and then hitting a six). That would take the series total to 7,199 runs, still not enough to overhaul the world record.

That remains with England and Australia, for the 1993 Ashes series. That had six Tests in all, one more than the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy; the first five Tests there saw 5,996 runs scored. Graham Gooch finished with 673 to his name, as three others – David Boon (555), Michael Atherton (553) and Mark Waugh (550) – all made over 500 in the series.
