India bowler Akash Deep celebrates after bowling Ollie Pope during day five of the Second Test Match between England and India at Edgbaston on July 06, 2025 in Birmingham, England

India routed England at Edgbaston to register their first win of the 2025-27 World Test Championship. Here's what the points table looks like after the second England-India Test.

Trailing 0-1, India bounced back in the series with a 336-run victory. Captain Shubman Gill (269 and 161) spearheaded India’s batting dominance, powering them to totals of 587 and 427-6 declared in the first and second innings, respectively.

India faced criticism for their late declaration on day four, but memories of Headingley – where England completed their second-highest fourth-innings chase – prompted caution. The visitors eventually set a daunting 608-run target, declaring only after ruling out any real chance of a loss.

By the dying stages of day four, India struck thrice, reducing England to 50-3. Despite rain delaying the start of day five, England were bowled out for 271, crumbling under the weight of the mammoth target.

After Mohammed Siraj starred with a six-wicket haul in the first innings for India, Akash Deep stood up in the second, claiming another six-for.
