England have announced a 16-player squad to take on India in the three-match ODI series, starting July 14.
Harry Brook will be marshalling his troops in the series, with matches scheduled for July 14, 16 and 19, respectively. All-rounder James Coles, who recently received his maiden senior England call-up for the ongoing T20I series against India, was also named in the ODI side.
To add to that, Josh Tongue, who is yet to make his debut in the 50-over format, was picked as well. Gus Atkinson, who last featured in an ODI in February 2025 on England's tour of India, and Saqib Mahmood, who missed the last two one-day series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka, make a return.
Coles, notably, was the most expensive buy in The Hundred auction earlier this year, with the Southern Brave signing him for £390,000. He also recently scored a rapid double hundred in the County Championship for Sussex against Glamorgan, staying unbeaten for a 226-ball 224.
England's last ODI series was in Sri Lanka in January this year ahead of the T20 World Cup. They won the three-match rubber 2-1, coming from behind after a loss in the first match. Joe Root was the star of the show, scoring a hundred in the series decider and two fifties in the first two games. Captain Harry Brook slammed an unbeaten 136 off 66 in the last match.
From the squad that toured Sri Lanka, Zak Crawley, Luke Wood, and Brydon Carse and Jamie Overton, both of whom picked up respective injuries at the IPL, miss out this time.
