England women will host India women for three ODIs between July 16 and July 22. Here are the complete squad lists for both sides.
Where will the ENG vs IND ODIs be played?
The series begins on Wednesday, July 16, at Utilita Bowl in Southampton, before the sides head to London for the second ODI on Saturday, July 19 at Lord’s. The three-match series concludes in Durham, with the final ODI being staged at Chester-le-Street, on July 22.
This series follows the T20I series, which was won 3-2 by India, despite England’s thrilling last-ball victory in the final game on Saturday (July 12).
India’s next assignment will be in Australia in September, ahead of the 50-over World Cup on home turf later that month. For England, this series is their last chance to test out their ODI side ahead of the marquee tournament.
England vs India: Head-to-head ODI record
The teams have contested 76 ODIs, with the first game played back in 1978. England hold the superior record, winning 40 matches compared to India’s 34, with two matches ending with no result. However, India produced a clinical 3-0 clean-sweep in the 2022 series, also held in England, which was the last time the sides met in this format.
England vs India: Injury news
Former England captain Heather Knight remains absent from the squad due to the hamstring injury she picked up in the very first game of the summer against West Indies. Her successor as captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt, is expected to play a full part in the upcoming ODIs, despite missing the final three T20Is with a groin injury.
Sophie Ecclestone and Lauren Filer both recovered from injuries which ruled them out of the ODI series against West Indies to play starring roles in the T20I leg of the India tour. Filer has produced rapid spells of bowling over this summer, reaching speeds of up to 78mph, while Ecclestone hit the winning runs in the final T20I thriller. They will both feature in the 50-over series, with Ecclestone having replaced leg-spinner Sarah Glenn in the squad.
As for India, captain Harmanpreet Kaur appears to have returned to full fitness, having recovered from missing the first T20I to appear in all of the final four games.
